Jenny, as an incredible woman and co-founder of Women And AI, you are a true champion of women in tech. And that's why you've been chosen as a Female Power Player to represent extraordinary women thriving in business! What makes you passionate about inspiring women as a Female Power Player?

I am passionate about creating spaces for women to help lift each other up. From founding Women And AI a podcast and community that shines the light on women in AI to leading employee resource groups to supporting women in tech and mentoring. Through a variety of different organizations, I advocate for elevating women in business. As a visible role model in the tech community, I strive to show that women can excel in high-tech fields and leadership positions.

My journey from a sales job in Wisconsin to leading monetization strategies  and serving as a fractional CMO for high tech startups in Silicon Valley demonstrates that women can break barriers and succeed in business, tech and beyond.

For those that don't know you, can you give some background into your career history?  What inspired your career moves?

Throughout my career, I've consistently used each role as a springboard to propel me toward the next opportunity.

My advice is to learn whatever you can from wherever you’re currently at. See if you can expand your role or take on more projects that are aligned with what you want to do next. I always prioritize learning when making career moves.

The second piece is to prioritize who you are learning with. The people you surround yourself with can significantly impact your professional growth, so I choose teams that foster creativity, innovation, and support.

By prioritizing both learning and who I am learning with, I've been able to navigate my career path effectively, continuously evolving and adapting to new challenges.

As one of the three co-founders of Women And AI along with the amazing Reut Lazo and Lana A. Dubinskiy, can you tell our readers a bit about your podcast and community and how they can get involved?

There was a New York Times article that highlighted the who's who of AI in December 2023 and it was… all men. With all the amazing women working and leading in the AI space, we couldn’t believe that none of them made the list. We had had enough. It pushed us into action and we started Women And AI to help shine the light on all the amazing women leading in AI.

63% of people from a survey by Deloitte strongly agree with, “AI and machine learning models would always produce biased results as long as AI continues to be a male-dominated field.”

We’re committed to inviting diverse voices to the rooms where decisions about AI are being made. Each podcast episode highlights a different woman and her journey in AI.

We’re also clearly not alone in our mission as we’ve seen steady community growth in our first year. In the last month, we grew the community by 38%.

We’re really active with our community of over 13,000 women and allies on LinkedIn. Join us for new podcast episode drops, AI Social Saturdays, and our Featured AI Leader series.

You can tune into Women And AI on Spotify or anywhere you get your podcasts.

What have been some of the most memorable success stories or transformations that you've witnessed as a result of your podcast? Is there one particular story that stands out to you as particularly inspiring or impactful?

We have so much fun recording the episodes and are lucky to have a waitlist to come on the show as a guest that is over 100 women long!

We just hosted our first in person workshop including a panel discussion and small group discussions led by the panelists. We had a sold out audience and received feedback like “I left exhilarated and joyful.” It is so rewarding to create spaces for women to share their voices and to connect with each other.

One stand out podcast episode was “Closing the Justice Gap with AI Driven Research” with Kara Peterson. I am truly inspired by the work Kara is doing at Descrybe.ai. She’s using AI to help close the justice gap by making the law accessible and understandable to all.

It’s been really fun to follow her journey since then as she and the descrybe.ai team have gone on to win a ton of legal tech awards. I can’t wait to see what she does next!

What are you most proud of in your work?

In my work, I am proud of three key areas that reflect my commitment to creating a positive and impactful tech community:

Building High-Performing Teams: I believe that a strong team is essential for the success of any project. By fostering a culture of collaboration, trust, and open communication, I’ve led teams to not only meet their goals but also exceed expectations. It’s incredibly rewarding to see individuals grow and thrive together.

Supporting Women in Tech: I am particularly passionate about supporting other women in the tech industry. Mentoring emerging female leaders and advocating for diversity in technology is how change happens. I always aim to contribute to a more balanced and innovative tech landscape.

Cultivating Meaningful Relationships: The people in my network are invaluable; they provide support, inspire innovation, and create a sense of community. I strive to cultivate relationships that have impact.

I am proud of all of the times I focus on these skills to drive positive impact with my work.

How did you always manage to foster a sense of community and collaboration among the Women And AI podcast listeners?

We test things and see what resonates. Right now our community is super interested in in-person events, our Featured AI Leader series and getting together to chat AI for Social Saturday. We recently tested a new workshop format pictured below:

We are intentional about receiving feedback that we can take action on.

As we find things that work for our community we keep them and iterate to make them even better. One of the best ways to build community is to ask the community what they want.

We take feedback from our community from listener ratings, testimonials, LinkedIn and email. If you have feedback we want to hear it.

What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs who want to turn their passion into a successful business venture?

Aspiring entrepreneurs should start by trying out their ideas and seeing what works, embracing a mindset of continuous testing and learning. Each business can be viewed as a series of small experiments, where you gather feedback and make necessary adjustments to refine your approach.

One thing women entrepreneurs have to keep in mind is  it's okay to charge for your services. In fact, you should charge! Doing so reflects the value you bring to the table. If you're struggling with setting your rates or feeling confident in charging, check out Ladies Get Paid for some great resources.

At the end of the day, success in entrepreneurship comes from being willing to experiment, valuing your contributions, and seeking out resources that empower you on your journey.

What are some of the challenges or obstacles you've seen women face within the business world? How would you recommend overcoming these challenges?

From being spoken over to having to prove myself over and over again when my male counterparts were promoted based on potential, there are plenty of obstacles I’ve faced and seen other women face.

Community is key. You don’t have to navigate it alone.

Find like-minded women who are dealing with similar challenges and help each other navigate it. I recommend finding support from other women and allies both at work and outside of work.

Having a strong support network of like-minded women who understand your struggles and can offer guidance will go a long way. The women in Obama’s Whitehouse staff used a technique called amplification to get their voices heard. I too have successfully used it and highly recommend it.

For a deeper understanding of these issues and more strategies to overcome them, I highly recommend reading “What Works for Women at Work.”  It's an excellent resource that provides actionable solutions to common workplace challenges.

What do you do for fun when you're not working?
When I am not working I enjoy traveling, yoga, watercolor and hangout with friends and family. Most recently we vacationed on the coast of Italy!

How do you maintain a work-life balance while managing a demanding career? What strategies do you employ to prevent burnout and prioritize self-care?

I like to use calendar blocking not only for work, but also for personal things.

Spa day? Yoga class? Mani pedi? Put it in the calendar or something else will swoop in and steal it.

For those that don't know you, can you give some background into your career history, how you got into what you do, and what you have worked on?

I was driving though a cornfield working a CPG sales job and listening to an audiobook about Y Combinator funding startups. I knew right away I wanted to go play in the startup environment.

As soon as I finished my masters in Public Relations I made the move out to Silicon Valley with the goal of working at a Y Combinator funded startup. I achieved that pretty quick and haven’t looked back.

Since then I have:

  1. Managed over $110M in annual revenue for global software companies, driving revenue across both mobile and desktop platforms.

  2. Advised startups on leveraging product led growth to take their products from 0 - 1 and beyond.

  3. Spoken internationally on mobile app growth, AI and marketing, and women in tech.

  4. Founded Women And AI podcast and community.

What type of people are you looking to connect with and what can you help them achieve?

I’m looking to connect with dynamic female founders and builders—those who are shaping the future with their innovative ideas. My goal is to network with female entrepreneurs and visionaries who are driving change through innovative B2C or B2B software solutions.

As an advisor and fractional Chief Growth and Marketing Officer, I specialize in:

  • Supporting B2C software solutions

  • Designing impactful go-to-market plans

  • Helping women entrepreneurs scale their businesses effectively

I’m passionate about fostering growth for female-led ventures. If you’re building something amazing and need guidance in growth or marketing, I’d love to collaborate and help you achieve your goals!

What are some fun memories you have from various trade shows and events you have been involved with and what advice would you give to others attending company trade shows?

At MAU - Vegas this year I got to serve as a roundtable moderator for the Women’s Forum where I met Amanda Farris and Sarah Malo from LinkUnite. It was amazing because we just clicked on so many levels from all things AI to supporting women in business. We had so many similar passions!

Fast forward a few months and I got to travel to Tennessee for the first time. Reut Lazo and I had the privilege of running a session during LinkUnite on how marketers should be using AI. The women of LinkUnite also came on our podcast! Be sure to check out their episode on Uniting AI Enthusiasts. That is the power of connections!

I go to a ton of industry events and my advice is be willing to put yourself out there and be yourself. That’s where the magic happens.

What are your future goals and aspirations? How do you plan to continue growing and making an impact?

I plan to continue focusing on B2C startups who are series A - series D and need support in revenue generation and business model expertise.

I will continue serving as an advisor and investor for female founded startups. I believe it’s important to invest both time and money in causes you care about. That’s why I am a Limited Partner in Emmeline Ventures, a fund focused on investing in female founders.

If you’re interested in learning more about venture, check out the documentary Show Her the Money. It’s a great way to learn more about the venture capital ecosystem from the perspective of founders and funders.

Do you have resources or goodies you can share with the group? Perhaps a list of trade shows or a link to something that you love to use?

Yes, check out my website for free mobile growth and women in tech resources.
